A couple of weeks ago, I was looking up ways to get stockinette to not curl, and I saw the double stockinette stitch. I decided to try it out with one of the older yarns I have called Hobbii Universe. I have two of the color Orion, so I tried that as a scarf, loved it. Started another with one of my Destination Lane yarns, loved it even more.

Then I saw that Purl Soho, whose patterns I find awfully addicting, had a Double Knit Blanket. In my previously mentioned quest to find pattern homes for yarn I’ve had growing dust, I started this blanket with two colors of Coboo (Steel Blue and Pale Pink).

Oh my god, this thing.

I cast on a rather horrifying 460 stitches and got to work, and after establishing that I do indeed love the feel of it, I also came to the conclusion that this blanket is going to be a whole lot of work.

Seriously, with double knitting, that basically means each row I complete is a whopping 920 stitches. I both cringe and find maniacal delight in that. This little inch and a half of blanket I’ve finished is like… almost 10,000 stitches.

Anyway, after I felt committed, I did the stupid anti-stash-busting thing and figured I should secure the yarn needed to finish the blanket, even though I’ll probably be knitting this thing until 2035 (or maybe that’s an argument for making sure I have the yarn years from now??). I went through all my bins and found three Steel Blue but only had the one Pale Pink.

These were impulse Walmart buys, so I thought, okay, maybe I only bought one pink to try it out. I bought six pinks and four blues from Lion.

Two days after it shipped, I found the two pinks that would have rounded out a 3–3 purchase of matching colors. Motherfiber.

Up yours, hidden Pale Pinks.

So anyway, now instead of 3 blues and 1 pink, I have 9 pinks and 7 blues.

Figures.
