As a chronic WIP addict, I have a lot of sweaters in the making, along with enough blankets to (eventually) keep an army warm.

But surprisingly, I’ve made some decent progress with a few of my sweaters, while others remain one-inch wonders.

The first is the Amphora Pullover I started in late January after Purl Soho emailed and baited me with the pattern. I’m substituting KnitPicks’s Galileo in Gem for this, and it’s looking amazing.

This is almost one ball knitted.

Next, I’ve finished one sleeve and am halfway done with the body on a Sunday Morning Sweater. I’ve made one of these before for my niece, but this one is for me, and it’s my first alpaca garment. I’m using a KnitCrate (RIP) yarn for this one.

Top-downs are my fave!

I’m not very happy with the length of the wrist ribbing, though, so I’m probably going to undo the bind-off and add another half inch or inch to it. I’ve found that I really prefer wrist ribbing to be much longer than the typical two inches called for in sweater patterns.

This sweater has blessedly short sleeves.

My third is one called the Flagford Turtleneck, and it’s a Lion Brand pattern I’m using with their Heartland yarn in Grand Canyon. It’s very soft, and I love how the cables are turning out.

This is about 160 grams of the Mega Ball used up.

The final one is one that I only started last week, but have been oddly laser-focused on. I’ve had dense, focused editing hours for the past two weeks, so I’ve had a lot of de-stress knitting time at night to help ease the pressure on my mind. This one is the Pure Comfort Cardigan, and I’m substituting Hobbii’s Mega Ball in light gray.

Back in January 2022, I made a colossally bad yarn purchase of EIGHT Mega Balls. I mean, 400-gram skeins of yarn for $12 each? Who wouldn’t be tempted? Anyway, my mistake became apparent as soon as the order arrived, because unlike previous Hobbii orders that came in a plastic bag, this one came in a big honking box, and I immediately went into Oh Shit mode, because that’s over 10,000 yards of yarn.

Let me tell you: It’s much harder to find storage space for skeins bigger than infant humans than regular skeins. My kids literally refer to my WIP-attached Mega Balls as my “yarn babies.” 😂

Anyway, one Mega Ball isn’t enough to complete this cardigan, so I’m going to do the collar in dark gray. Hopefully the color contrast will be pretty!
